Keith Rainz and OCC Adventure Bikers rode from Zambia to Cape Maclear, Malawi, for the UMP Festival 2025—an unforgettable two-wheel journey.
The roar of engines, the open road, and the spirit of brotherhood — that’s what it’s all about! This October, I, Keith Rainz, and the OCC Adventure Bikers crew on a thrilling cross-border motorcycle ride from Lusaka, Zambia to Cape Maclear, Malawi, for the electrifying UMP Festival 2025. Together with my good friend Lawrence of Lusaka, we embarked on a journey that combined passion, adventure, music, and culture — all powered by two wheels.
🏍️ The Journey: From Lusaka to Cape Maclear on Two Wheels
Our journey began early in the morning in Lusaka, helmets on, tanks full, hearts racing. As part of the OCC Adventure Bikers, our goal wasn’t just to attend the UMP Festival — it was to experience the freedom of the open road and the unity that comes with every mile.
We rode through Chipata, crossed the border at Mwami, and made our way through Malawi’s scenic roads, passing through towns filled with friendly faces and curious onlookers amazed at our convoy of bikes. The route was smooth, filled with laughter, occasional challenges, and breathtaking landscapes — the kind that remind you why bikers call the road home.
🎶 The UMP Festival Experience
The UMP (Urban Music People) Festival is one of Malawi’s biggest cultural and music events, hosted at the beautiful Cape Maclear on Lake Malawi. It brings together music, fashion, art, and the vibrant energy of Africa’s creative youth.
When we arrived, the vibe was electric. From Malawian Afrobeat artists to Zambian and regional performers, the lineup kept the crowd moving day and night. The beach was alive with music, laughter, and the sound of waves — a perfect paradise for bikers who live for freedom and rhythm.
🌅 Cape Maclear: Paradise on Lake Malawi
After hours on the road, Cape Maclear welcomed us like an old friend. Golden sand, turquoise water, and the warm hospitality of the locals made it worth every kilometer. We parked our bikes by the beach, dipped our boots in the lake, and soaked in the sunset — truly one of Africa’s hidden gems.
For many of us, it wasn’t just about reaching the destination. It was about connecting — with the road, the people, and the spirit of adventure. Lawrence and I captured every moment on camera, from border crossings to drone shots of our bikes lined up along Lake Malawi.
🤝 Partnership & Brotherhood
This trip was made possible through teamwork and passion. OCC Adventure Bikers, a growing community of motorcycle enthusiasts in Zambia, believes in unity, safety, and adventure. Riding alongside Lawrence of Lusaka made this trip even more memorable — from planning the route to fueling up in remote towns, we proved that when bikers unite, there’s no destination too far.
